2022 Lamborghini Aventador Review and Price

If you haven’t driven a true supercar with a naturally aspirated V12, you should do it before they disappear—like Lamborghini’s Aventador will after this year.

First introduced back in 2016, the Lamborghini Aventador is the epitome of what a supercar should be. And what’s that? It’s outrageously good-looking, powerful, and thunderously loud when pushed.

Oh, and it’s not good on gas. Ten mpg would be pushing it.

Let’s take a look at what makes the Aventador the quintessential Italian supercar—and what buying one will set you back.

2022 Lamborghini Aventador Overview

Tweaking the Lamborghini Aventador S roadster and coupe’s suspension, powerplant, and steering results in the Aventador Ultimae. Lamborghini’s only building 600 – 250 roadsters and 350 coupes if you’re in the market,

Low and powerful, with its aggressive cooling vents and ductwork, four-wheel steering, and trademark scissor doors, the Aventador’s design is all Lamborghini. That means it’s all swooping carbon fiber and aluminum.

Tuning the 6 1/2 liter V12 brings horsepower up to 769 with 531 pound-feet of torque. Delivering that to all four wheels is done via a seven-speed automated manual transmission. Adding massive ceramic brakes as standard equipment is another change.

Driving

With a 769 horsepower V12 sitting behind you, a Lamborghini test drive is an experience unlike any other. Pushing the pedal to the floor results in tremendous, kidney-crushing acceleration and that gloriously loud engine roaring with delight.

How fast is it? Getting to 60 mph takes 2.8 seconds; a quarter-mile goes by in 10.6 seconds. Top speed? Finding a place is the problem, but the Aventador will get you up to 217 mph.

The Aventador isn’t light at 4,000 pounds, but its tremendous grip and four-wheel steering make powering through corners a breeze.

Three driving modes—Strada, Sport, and Corso—are built-in, letting you decide how harsh you want the ride and how aggressive you want to be.

Interior

With ample space in the low-slung, wide cabin for you and a lucky second person, getting in the car is dramatic. The scissors doors swing open; you step over the broad sill and lower yourself into the leather seats. Awesome.

Visibility—despite rear louvers and large pillars—is good. Summing up the rest of the interior, from digital gauges to center console, refined elegance comes to mind.

That ample seat space doesn’t equate to room for much more. You won’t be bringing along beach chairs, a set of clubs, or overnight bags.

Options and Price

Pricing the Aventador isn’t like ordering an econobox from the dealer down the street. So let’s say figure on half a million—before you start customizing your car.

50% of buyers go with custom leathers, graphics, colors, and carbon fibers—all available through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program—pushing the price higher.

But if you’re not in the mood to spend half a mil, Lamborghini rentals are available. Why wait? You only live once!

The Bottom Line

Driving a Lamborghini Aventador is life-altering—everyone should do it at least once. So find yourself a track and an Aventador and experience the thrill of a lifetime!
