In 2020, the world learned that Jeep vehicles have ‘Easter Eggs’ hidden on and in them. As explained by Joe Feder, the interactive content manager at Motor Authority, Jeep vehicles have had ‘Easter Eggs’ since the 1990s. In 1989, automotive designer Michael Santoro slipped an ‘Easter Egg’ into the Wrangler TJ. Since then, all Jeep vehicles have included at least one ‘Easter Egg,’ and today, Jeep owners are having a field day hunting down these hidden treasures.

What Are Jeep Easter Eggs?

Since the 1990s, every Jeep vehicle has had a hidden surprise known as an ‘Easter Egg.’ No, we are not talking about the artificial chocolate eggs your children hunt down on Easter, but hidden gems are added to all Jeep vehicles as a bonus. 

In 1997, Michael Santoro, designing the Jeep Wrangler, wanted to leave a unique mark on the vehicle. To do this, he hid a 7-bar grille design within the cowl (the space between the hood and the windshield) of the Wrangler.

Now, you can find Jeep’s Easter Eggs on all Jeeps that roll out of the factory, and Jeep owners have been able to find multiple Easter eggs, including:

• A dinosaur skull on the floor;
• A tiny pair of flip-flops on the cowl;
• Bigfoot and a miniature grill in the headlights;
• A silhouette of a Jeep in the corner of the windshield;
• Animals like spiders, lizards, snakes, and apes are in the fuel tank.

How Can I Find Jeep Easter Eggs?

Here are some Jeep Easter Eggs and how you can find them:

• You can find a lizard hidden under the windshield wipers of your Jeep;
• Most Jeep Renegades feature a spider quoting “Ciao, baby!” on the fuel door;
• Vintage Willys Jeeps are found on some Jeep wheels and Jeep Wrangler windows;
• Some Jeeps have a Freedom Star that represents the vehicle’s status as a military vehicle;
• You can find the map of Moab, Utah, on the gear of some Jeep vehicles;
• Some Jeeps have an American flag shaped as s C-pillar on the vent;
• Some Jeep Gladiators have the number “419” engraved into the rear. 419 is the area code for Toledo, Ohio, where the vehicles are manufactured. 
• Some Jeeps feature a T. Rex chasing Bigfoot. You can also find a Willys Jeep molded onto your floor mats or roof latches. 
• Most Jeep Renegades have an orange paintball splotch on the tachometer redline. Supposedly, paintball is a skirmish sport enjoyed by the design team over the weekend.  
• You can find many Jeep Easter Eggs in the Jeep Cherokee L. If you look under the hood, you will find a map of Detroit and the 313 area code. You will also find a Willys Jeep in the fuel door.
